Job Summary
Greenfield Child and Youth Services is currently seeking Child and Youth Workers to join our team across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including Toronto, Hamilton, Durham Region, Peel Region, and surrounding communities.
This role involves providing individualized, one-to-one support to children, youth, and families experiencing complex emotional, behavioural, developmental, and social challenges. Services are delivered in community settings, family homes, and out-of-home placement environments depending on program needs.
The work is grounded in a trauma-informed, strength-based, and culturally responsive approach, with a strong emphasis on relationship-building, consistency, and practical support that promotes stability and positive development.
Compensation & Job Type
Hourly Rate: $20.00 – $27.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Employment Type: Full-time | Part-time | Relief / On-call
Schedule: Flexible scheduling including days, evenings, weekends, and community-based assignments as required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one support to children and youth in home, community, and placement settings
- Build and maintain professional, supportive relationships with youth and families
- Support emotional regulation, behavioural needs, and crisis situations using trauma-informed and de-escalation strategies
- Assist with daily living skills, routines, school attendance, appointments, and community engagement
- Implement individualized support plans as directed
- Support families in developing structure, communication strategies, and routines
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation including case notes and incident reports
- Collaborate with families, professionals, and community partners
- Promote safety, inclusion, respect, and cultural awareness
- Respond appropriately to crisis situations using approved intervention strategies
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Services, Psychology, Education, or related field (or equivalent experience working with children and youth)
- Experience working with children, youth, or vulnerable populations strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and strength-based approaches
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress or crisis situations
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and community-based work
- Valid G-Class driver’s licence, access to reliable vehicle, and $2M liability insurance (as required)
- Must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check prior to employment
Assets / Certifications
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Crisis intervention training (CPI, UMAB, or equivalent)
- Indigenous cultural competency training or willingness to complete training provided
