Finance Officer – Pregnancy/Parental Leave Coverage

Hillel Lodge, a 121-bed Jewish long-term care home in Ottawa, is seeking a Finance Officer to join our Administration team on a 12 to 18-month contract to cover a pregnancy/parental leave. About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the full cycle of accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, resident trust accounts, and compliance reporting.
This is a dynamic role requiring excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a high level of professionalism in a collaborative, people-centred environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close
- Prepare Ministry reports, budgets, and special financial analysis as required
- Manage resident accommodation billing, sundry invoicing, and government remittances
- Monitor A/R and A/P, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely vendor payments
- Oversee resident trust accounts, providing timely, respectful service to residents and families
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives related to finance and administration
What We’re Looking For
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, business, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in full-cycle accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with ERPs an asset)
- Knowledge of GAAP and bookkeeping practices
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively
