We are currently looking for a Front Desk Attendant to join our hotel family in beautiful Kamloops, BC.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Register guests, assign rooms, and accommodate special requests whenever possible.
- Assist with pre‑registration, express check‑ins, and room blocking based on reservation requirements.
- Follow all credit, cash‑handling, and financial control procedures accurately.
- Answer all telephone calls promptly and professionally, following Front Office standards and company guidelines.
- Manage room inventory by updating room status and coordinating with Housekeeping on check‑outs, late check‑outs, early arrivals, and special requests.
- Communicate room maintenance needs to the Maintenance department and follow up as required.
- Provide reservation and rate information, take reservations when opportunities arise, and apply appropriate rates based on contracts and revenue guidelines.
- Sell rooms to walk‑in guests using suggestive selling techniques, upsell arrivals to higher room categories, and enforce cancellation policies.
- Greet all guests entering the lobby, build rapport, and create emotional connections that enhance guest satisfaction.
- Provide detailed information about hotel facilities, amenities, daily events, and local attractions; offer directions, transportation assistance, and personalized recommendations.
- Resolve guest issues promptly, follow up on satisfaction, and report unusual occurrences or concerns to Front Office management.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area and act as a brand ambassador for the hotel’s sustainability initiatives.
- Build relationships with Marriott Rewards members and returning guests to support loyalty and retention.
- Attend Front Office and hotel meetings as required and perform additional duties assigned by the General Manager or department head.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Experience in a customer service environment (an asset)
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and remain alert during overnight shifts.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office
- First Aid and CPR certification (an asset)
- Hospitality experience (an asset)
- Ability to handle stressful or unexpected situations calmly.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
