Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and safety -conscious Yard Loader Operator & Shunt Driver to assist in managing the day-to-day operations of our secure equipment yard in Calgary, Alberta.
Responsibilities:
Yard Operator: Maintain a safe and organized yard for various equipment including trucks, trailers, construction equipment, and more. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Operate a shunt truck to move trailers and other equipment within the yard;
- Operate a loader for winter snow removal in yard and parking areas;
- Direct and assist customers with parking, pick-up, and drop-off of equipment;
- Verify and manage rental contracts, parking agreements, bills of sale, and other relevant paperwork;
- Conduct regular yard inspections to identify and report any damages to equipment, fencing, gates, or facilities;
- Oversee restroom facilities for yard customers;
- Conduct seasonal landscaping and parking lot maintenance;
- Coordinate repairs for damaged equipment, fencing, gates, weigh scale, and yard restroom;
- Coordinate the use of lifts and cranes for moving oversized or complex equipment.
Shop Coordination:
- Assist in scheduling equipment repairs in coordination with on-site shop.
Communication:
- Maintain clear communication with customers regarding yard procedures and paperwork.
- Report any maintenance needs or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years experience
- Class 1 driver's license with a clean driving record required to operate and maneuver transportation assets (semi-trucks, trailers) within the yard and during pick-up/drop-off in Calgary and surrounding areas.
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment (loader or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices in heavy equipment operation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently.
- Familiarity with equipment maintenance procedures a plus.
- A passion for heavy equipment is a strong asset.
