Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-time Support Worker to provide high-quality care for a senior with dementia. This role involves assisting with daily activities, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment, and supporting the overall well-being of our client. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the life of elderly individual. This position offers flexible hours suitable for those looking to contribute part-time while gaining meaningful caregiving experience.
Duties
- Assist seniors with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Support residents with mobility and transfers to promote independence and safety
- Prepare nutritious meals
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed instructions (if qualified)
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping and organization
- Provide companionship, emotional support, and reassurance to individuals with dementia
- Support with attending medical appointments
- Monitor health status and report any changes or concerns to family
Skills
- Prior experience with a support worker certificate, with nursing or health care aide experience, and first aid and CPR training are highly desirable
- Knowledge of dementia care techniques and working with individuals
- Strong caregiving skills with patience, empathy, and excellent communication abilities
- Ability to administer medications responsibly (training provided if necessary)
- Capable of performing light cleaning and meal preparation tasks efficiently
- Compassionate attitude towards seniors, especially those with cognitive impairments
- Ability to work independently while following established care protocols
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs of clients and work schedules
- Being able to speak Cantonese will be an asset
Shifts available:
Shift #1: Days: Sunday (10am-3pm) , Monday (8am-12pm), Friday (8am-12pm), Saturday (10am-3pm) *Total hours 18 hours
Shift #2: Afternoons and evenings: Monday (1-9pm), Tuesday-Friday (5-9pm) *Total hours 24 hours
Start date: August 1, 2026
Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
