Community Engagement & Marketing Coordinator
Position Type: Full-Time, 40hrs
Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday

Reports To: Community Events & Rentals Manager
About the Role
The Cranston Residents Association is looking for a friendly, creative, organized, and community-minded Community Engagement & Marketing Coordinator to join our team.
This is a hands-on, entry-level position that plays an important role in connecting our community with the programs, events, markets, and opportunities offered through the centre.
The successful candidate will support the centre's day-to-day marketing and communications, manage social media and website content, communicate with sponsors and community partners, and coordinate vendors for our seasonal markets. They will also provide hands-on support during larger community events.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, creating content, staying organized, and being involved in a wide variety of community activities.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
- Manage the centre's social media accounts, including creating, scheduling, and posting engaging content.
- Maintain and update the centre's website with current program, event, market, and community information.
- Create promotional content and materials for programs, events, markets, and other centre initiatives.
- Help maintain a consistent and welcoming voice across the centre's communications.
- Assist with marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives to increase awareness and participation.
- Monitor social media engagement and basic website/social media analytics.
- Keep marketing materials, event information, and online listings accurate and up to date.
- Help identify new and creative ways to promote the centre and engage community members.
Community Engagement & Relationships
- Serve as a friendly point of contact for community members, local businesses, sponsors, vendors, and community partners.
- Build positive working relationships with sponsors and community organizations.
- Communicate with sponsors regarding promotional opportunities, recognition, and event-related details.
- Assist with sponsor acknowledgements and fulfilling agreed-upon promotional commitments.
- Help identify opportunities to connect the centre with local businesses and community organizations.
- Represent the centre in a professional and welcoming manner.
Summer & Christmas Markets
The Coordinator will take the lead on vendor communication and coordination for the centre's 8-week Summer Market and annual Christmas Market.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate vendor applications and communications.
- Respond to vendor questions and provide information about market requirements.
- Maintain vendor lists, contact information, applications, and other records.
- Coordinate vendor confirmations and onboarding.
- Communicate market schedules, setup information, policies, and expectations to vendors.
- Assist with booth assignments and vendor logistics.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for market vendors.
- Help coordinate vendor setup and provide support during market days.
- Address vendor questions or concerns and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Work with the centre team to help ensure markets are welcoming, organized, and enjoyable for vendors and community members.
- Assist with post-market follow-up and feedback.
Event Support
The Coordinator will provide hands-on support for larger community centre events throughout the year.
This position is not responsible for planning or leading these events but will provide additional staff support on event days.
Duties may include:
- Assisting with event setup, teardown and event-day logistics
- Helping with registration, guest check-in, greeting and assisting attendees.
- Supporting vendors, sponsors, performers, and community partners.
- Setting up signage and promotional materials.
- Helping staff respond to unexpected needs or changes during an event.
- Interested in the local community and helping create positive experiences for community members.
- Comfortable learning new software, platforms, and systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in customer service, administration, marketing, communications, community work, events, or a related field is an asset.
- Experience with social media platforms is an asset.
- Experience with Canva, website content management systems, or social media scheduling tools is an asset.
- Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new technology.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, business, community development, event management, or a related field is an asset.
Certifications:
Standard First- Aid & CPR C- required
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector- required
