Human Resources Business Partner
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a true HR generalist. This critical role serves as a primary business partner to the Designer Brands Canada Retail Western Leadership team, influencing and advising District and Area Manager’s across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. The HRBP has a talent vision and knows how to bring it to life! Primary Responsibilities will Include:
Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations with consultation from the Senior Human Resources Manager.
Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to District Managers and Store Managers (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
Works closely with management and employees to ensure our values are demonstrated in work relationships, building morale, and increasing productivity and retention.
Supports the delivery and deployment of HR programs and processes and participate in coaching and feedback (Performance Management, Compensation, HiPo, Succession Planning, Engagement Survey and the Performance Review Cycle) for operations.
Provides recruiting assistance and candidate screening and assessment for SM
Coaches and handles termination-related matters and prepares termination and severance letters
Guides and Supports wage Management decisions to ensure fairness and equity
Runs reports and analyzes data to create monthly HR metrics reports as defined by the Senior Human Resources Manager
Participates in Team Calls including Business Reviews
Ensures the safety of our associates with the right work safety programs and guidelines. Monitors and coaches work safety concerns and provides solutions for improvement
Monitor’s training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training is completed.
Assists with Leave Management and active Leave Cases.
Travel with Area and District Managers and independently to conduct store visits, facilitate training, investigations or as directed
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum of 2 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
Demonstrated expertise with multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and Canadian employment laws.
Experience supporting retail stores in a remote Retail HR role highly preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and human resources experience; achievement of CHRP designation or secondary HR school is preferred
Solid business and retail acumen
Must have a good professional presence and possess strong planning and organizational skills and experience leading projects.
Ability to interact with all levels with comprehensive consultative, partnering
Strong integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information.
Solid computer skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint required
Exceptional commitment to customer service with strong sense of urgency
Highly motivated, self-starter,
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
Remote office environment from home, consistent computer usage
Travel within the western market and to Support Centre in Toronto (semi-annually)
Ability to work extended hours as required
Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach
