POSITION: INTERMEDIATE FINANCE ANALYST
This position is responsible for working with other functional areas to gather and input information necessary to update monthly results, quarterly forecasts along with assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and long-term planning. This position will be responsible for a significant amount of work in the financial reporting process which includes, comparing actuals to budget & forecast, providing variance analysis for income statement and balance sheet accounts and month-end close duties. Additionally, this position will assist with updating the Company’s financial and economic models, along with assisting in the timely preparation of the MD&A report. This position requires the individual to perform a significant amount of work independently but to also assist other senior professionals as required.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director of Finance – FP&A, responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:
Budgeting & Forecasting:
· Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
· Collaborate with department heads to gather and analyze budget and forecast inputs and assumptions.
· Monitor and report on budget/forecast variances for all financial statements, providing insights and recommendations for corrective actions.
Financial Modeling & Analysis:
· Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate investment opportunities and capital raising initiatives.
· Communicate with respective stakeholders in order to prepare accrual reports while understanding results.
· Produce comprehensive analysis for senior management that are succinct and insightful, identify and communicate the priority issues, risks, and opportunities to support decision making.
Management Reporting & Accounting:
· Assist with monthly and quarterly corporate financial internal and external presentations.
· Assist with compiling information and data for quarterly and annual MD&A statements and press releases.
· Identify operational improvement opportunities, propose solutions and lead various operational improvement initiatives.
· Support Finance Team by providing coverage during absences through cross-training of other accounting and financial tasks.
· Prepare and review accounting entries as needed.
· Assist with managing internal controls and accounting processes to minimize organizational risk.
· Identify and implement best business practices and operational improvement opportunities.
· Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· CPA designation or is actively pursuing is preferred.
· 5+ years of financial reporting/budgeting/planning/analysis at an oil and gas company.
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
· Experience with Qbyte FM and Qbyte Optix.
· Experience in Power BI reporting.
· Experience in financial modeling
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required to build and maintain positive professional relationships.
· Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and maintain flexibility in completing tasks in a dynamic workplace.
· Demonstrates initiative in identifying and taking on projects and duties.
· Strong organizational skills: ability to meet deadlines, self-starter, and a quick learner.
