Position Purpose
Reporting to the Supervisor, Hostel Programs, is responsible for implementing and delivering financial and support services Housing with Supports, the Emergency Housing Program or Homemakers and Nursing Program (HNSA) to York Region clients; assessing the eligibility of applicants for financial assistance through Ontario Works; verifying the client’s information as required by the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), government or private pension; and counselling and directing the resident to appropriate training, employment, health, housing, social services and community services programs.
  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma Program in Social Work, Social Science, or a related program.
  • One to three (1-3) years’ experience in a social service environment, including one (1) year of direct Ontario Works case worker experience and experience with disadvantaged individuals, homelessness, mental health and senior population, employment counselling and group/workshop delivery and demonstrated skills to work in a demanding environment in emergency and domiciliary hostels.
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
  • Satisfactory Police Criminal Background Check.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership.
