Position Summary:
We are seeking an energetic and detail oriented AV Installation Technician with a strong foundation in commercial or residential construction to join our field operations team. In this role, your structural and job site experience is what matters most. We will teach you the AV technical aspect in which you will be responsible for, on-site physical installation, structured low-voltage cabling, terminations, basic setup of integrated audio, video and control networks. You will work on active commercial construction sites as well as occupied corporate environments, transforming engineered schematics into reliable, high-performance systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field Installation: Physically mount and secure hardware including commercial displays, interactive touchscreens, projectors, motorized drop-down screens, and speaker systems.
- Structured Cabling & Infrastructure: Pull, route, support and dress low-voltage signal cable through conduits, open ceilings, and structural walls cleanly according to specifications.
- Termination & Testing: Efficiently terminate and test RJ45, XLR, Phoenix and BNC Connections. Utilize modern multimeters and cable testers to verify signal path continuity.
- Rack Building: Lead or assist in building, organizing, and wiring equipment headend racks cleanly, implementing strict labelling standards and optimal thermal management layout.
- Collaboration: Work alongside onsite lead technicians, control programmers, and third-party trades (electricians, general contractors, etc.) to troubleshoot connectivity on-site.
- Documentation: Complete work orders daily, including photo documentation of completed structural mounts, rack wiring and client sign-off sheets.
What we are looking for (Qualifications):
- Construction Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in commercial construction, carpentry/framing, electrical roughing, drywalling, or telecommunication cabling.
- AV/Tech Experience: direct AV experience is required (0-1 years), but a strong interest in technology and a willingness to learn is a must.
- Blueprint Literacy: Ability to read architectural floor plans, reflected ceiling plans and structural drawings.
Core Regional & Construction Safety Requirements:
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License: Must possess a clean G-class driver’s license
- Physical Stamina: This is a highly physical role. Must be able to lift/carry up to 50lbs consistently, work comfortably at heights on ladders/scaffolding/lifts and stand for periods of time.
- Personable: Ability to interact with the Client in a positive and constructive manner, along with the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, clients and industry personnel.
