Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Technician to join their team. This role will support tax and bookkeeping functions, with a focus on trusts, estates, and personal tax compliance.
In this role, you will be involved in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Perform basic bookkeeping and prepare bank synoptics for trusts and estates
Assist with preparing responses to the CRA related to corporate and personal tax processing reviews and audit inquiries
Prepare basic Canadian personal income tax returns (T1)
Prepare T4 and T5 slips
Prepare various tax election forms, including capital dividend elections and elections to transfer property to Canadian corporations
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:
Basic accounting or bookkeeping experience
Experience preparing personal tax returns is considered an asset
Familiarity with QuickBooks Online is an asset
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with sensitive financial information
Organized and able to manage multiple priorities
Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field is an asset
An accounting designation is not required
