Position Opening: Registered Nurse (RN) for Senior Care, Alzheimer’s Care, and Complex Care.

At Island View Place, our RN acts as a lead and as such is responsible for the overall care and well being of residents in our care home. This position works closely with our leadership team, including the Resident Manager. The RN provides nursing care in accordance with our policies and best practices, along with the physicians' orders.

Roles and Responsibilities include and are not limited to:


  • Assess the resident's condition and complete complex assessments
  • Lead the development of care plans with the scope of the RN role
  • Use evidence-informed nursing knowledge, skill, and judgment and work within the RN scope of practice
  • Provide holistic nursing care to meet the physical, safety, and emotional needs of clients and their families in their homes and communities
  • Work in collaboration of health care team
  • Receive and transcribe physician's orders
  • Medication administration and review
  • The pronouncement of expected death
  • Assist in maintaining a physical and psychosocial environment which meets the needs of the residents and upholds our expectations of level of care
  • Plan assignments for care aides and delegates accordingly to provide effective care for our resident
  • Wound and skincare and other interventions
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned


  • Create or adjust resident assignments
  • Schedule and coordinate staff
  • Assign the responsibility for the care of residents to the appropriate staff
  • Promote a positive team culture within the home
  • Leads by example
  • Ensures the health and safety of residents and staff working with residence

Qualifications, Experience and Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Registered Nurses
  • Current registration with CRNBC
  • 3 years of RN experience
  • Ability to perform general role of an RN
  • Demonstrate knowledge of patient care requirements
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices and techniques as they relate to long term care
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the nursing care planning and process
  • Proficient with problem-solving coupled with exceptional use of critical thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Computer savvy
  • Organized with solid time management skills
  • Criminal record check
  • Medical certificate stating employee is physically and mentally fit to work
  • TB Screening
  • Demonstrates empathy, patience, and tact
  • Knowledge of the Resident Bill of Rights

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand for several hours at a time
  • Able to lift, bend and stoop
  • Proven ability to stretch, lift and walk on a regular basis
  • Other physical abilities as required to perform the duties of the position
