Accountant / BookkeeperPosition Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper to oversee daily accounting functions and support the overall financial operations of the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, payroll support, financial reporting, and general administrative duties.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Finance
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Prepare and issue customer invoices and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Record and reconcile daily financial transactions.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and supplier statements.
- Maintain the general ledger and supporting documentation.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting.
- Prepare HST/GST filings and other government remittances.
- Support payroll processing and maintain payroll records.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
- Work with external accountants and auditors as required.
Administrative Support
- Maintain organized financial and corporate records.
- Assist with document management and filing.
- Support management with reporting and data analysis.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, and service providers regarding billing and payment matters.
- Assist with various office administration tasks as needed.
- Experience with inventory management and purchase order reconciliation.
- Experience handling customer deposits, vendor payments, and freight-related invoices.
- Ability to support sales and operations teams with financial reporting and analysis.
- Familiarity with CRM and ERP systems is an asset.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in HVAC, distribution, wholesale, or manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of inventory accounting and job costing.
- CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA program is an asset.
