Progressive Fabrication Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Operator to join our growing team. Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the fabrication team to deliver internal and external custom equipment. We are looking for a detail-oriented, safety-conscious professional who demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities, a commitment to quality, and a desire to contribute to a dynamic and innovative work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate high-speed CNC water jet and laser cutters to cut and trim parts from assorted materials according to specifications
- Work with various materials including steel, aluminum, stainless steel and other metals
- Review work orders, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machine setup and material needs
- Measure, mark and verify cutting and trimming dimensions to ensure accuracy
- Install and align machine accessories, (cutting tips, work positioner, plates, fixtures, and shields)
- Enter and verify coordinate and program information through CNC control system
- Manipulate machine controls and verify accuracy of finished products against drawings and specifications
- Observe machine performance and identify potential equipment malfunctions through visual and documented inspections and operational feedback
- Perform finishing operations such as trimming, sanding, deburring, and modifying components using appropriate shop equipment and tools
- Support preventative maintenance program including replacement of worn or damaged machine parts
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and safety standards
- Assist with other fabrication and production-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience with CNC laser cutting equipment
- Experience with waterjet equipment and software
- Proficiency with Autocad or similar software
- Brake press and metal forming experience
- Welding certification and/or practical welding experience
- Skid steer and forklift experience considered an asset
- Crane and Rigging certification considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Proficiency in measuring and verifying material and part dimensions
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and procedures.
- Experience using hand & power tools safely and effectively
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Pride in keeping a clean and orderly work zone
- Drivers License is required
Working Conditions
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs
- Regular hours 7:00 am – 5:00 pm
- Inside/outside temperatures fluctuate so appropriate layered outerwear should be considered when preparing for activity throughout the property, depending on the season
- Overtime and weekends may be required
