Sous Chef – La Brezza Ristorante (Calgary, AB)
About Us
La Brezza is a landmark Italian restaurant in Calgary, known for authentic cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere. We are seeking a driven Sous Chef to help lead our kitchen and deliver outstanding experiences for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support kitchen staff during prep and service
- Oversee and participate in food preparation and cooking line duties as needed
- Be fully prepared to work any station on the line and assist with prep work as required
- Collaborate with the Head Chef in menu planning and development
- Ensure proper food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety at all times
- Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies
- Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen team members
- Maintain organized, clean, and efficient workstations
- Step in and manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
- Address special requests and dietary needs, collaborating with front-of-house staff as needed
Qualifications
- 1/2 years of experience as a Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor (required)
- Strong prep, cooking, and organizational skills; must be willing and able to do hands-on prep and work on the line when needed
- Knowledge of Italian cuisine and current culinary trends is a strong asset
- Culinary diploma or Red Seal certification (preferred)
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
- Ability to perform under pressure and multitask
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
