Job Summary
The Grain Terminal Operator is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of grain handling equipment at one of Canada's largest terminals. You will be responsible for the loading and unloading of grain, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical knowledge, experience with heavy equipment operation, and familiarity with grain handling facilities.This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment within the agriculture and logistics industry, supporting the safe movement of grain products.
Duties
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment used in grain handling, including conveyors, loaders, forklifts, and railcar mover
- Monitor grain flow and quality throughout the terminal process
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Conduct heavy lifting tasks safely as required for loading or unloading grain containers
- Maintain accurate records of operations, including quantities processed and equipment status
- Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents and ensure a secure working environment
- Assist with mechanical repairs or adjustments as needed, utilizing mechanical knowledge
- Coordinate with team members to ensure timely processing and delivery of grain products
Experience
- Prior experience in construction, heavy equipment operation, or industrial settings is preferred
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated systems is advantageous
- Mechanical knowledge related to machinery maintenance and troubleshooting is beneficial
- Experience working in agriculture industry is a plus
- Basic math skills are necessary for measurements, calculations, and record keeping
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy machinery efficiently
- Previous work involving mechanical repairs or operating complex equipment will be considered an asset
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
