The Urban Heiltsuk Support Team is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team in the Vancouver location, as Urban Services Coordinator; this is currently a temporary full-time role until March 31, 2027, with the possibility of renewal at the end of the term. The Urban Services Coordinator will function as a trusted guide and advocate for Urban Heiltsuk Citizens, helping them access and navigate available resources and services to address their needs and achieve their goals.
In addition to direct community support, the Urban Services Coordinator will contribute to the day-to-day operations of the Urban Heiltsuk Support Team, helping ensure programs and services are delivered in a responsive, coordinated, and community-informed way.
This role requires effective communication skills, an understanding of community dynamics, and a commitment to social justice and equity. Working alongside the Urban Heiltsuk Support Team, the Urban Services Coordinator will provide resource navigation, case management, event planning, and participation, and assist with grant and proposal writing. There is requirement to maintain a valid class 5 driver’s license for the purpose of travelling within Lower Mainland to meet with Heiltsuk Peoples, provide outreach services, and attend events. About You
You have post-secondary education in human or social services, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, and you understand the ethical requirements related to protection of privacy, and you can demonstrate compassion for individuals served while also maintaining professional boundaries. You have a diplomatic demeanor, and you build positive relationships with your co-workers and people being served. You are a self-starter, safety conscious individual, with strong organization skills, and capable of effectively using Microsoft Office Suite. You are committed to the employment term. Your Essential Skills Include
- Post-secondary education in social work, psychology, sociology, public health, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Demonstrated ability to maintain privacy, confidentiality, and manage sensitive information
- Experience working with diverse populations in community-based settings, preferably within social services or non-profit organizations
- Knowledge of community resources and social service programs
- Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach to individuals and families facing challenges.
- Commitment to social justice, equity, and community empowerment
- Knowledge of harm reduction, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed practices
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to support co-workers, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Ability to work Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional requirement to work evenings and weekends, when travelling and attending events
- Ability to respond to emergency calls outside of work hours (and carry work cell phone)
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and task switch
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust across diverse backgrounds
- Professional communication skills—written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams
- Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Police Information Check (Vulnerable Sector)
- Required to maintain a Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transportation to and from work

About the Pay:
The hourly rate of pay ranges from $27.00 to $30.00 per hour, pending qualifications. This employee will work a regular schedule of 37.5 hours per week, and will include some evening and weekend shifts. Group benefits.
