Job description
- Metal Control Clerk assumes the responsibility of shipping and receiving of metal, recording information and other housekeeping duties on the shop floor.
- Verify and keep records of incoming customer material in strict accordance with procedures and determine the net weight, description, appropriate process route.
- Prepare orders in strict accordance with procedures for shipments including completing paperwork, notifying sales of readiness and preparing the product for shipping.
- Maintain inventory stored in Metal Control through physical stock counts at prescribed intervals as defined.
- Prepare material for issuance to treatment facilities within the company as per procedures.
- Receive finished product from other departments, recording relevant information and reporting any deviations from standards to management as per procedures.
- Protect the company’s assets through adherence to company security and departmental procedures.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with the company’s environmental, health & safety policy and procedures and attend monthly H&S meetings.
- Work with a variety of equipment throughout daily tasks, including pump trucks, hand carts, scales and variety of hand tools.
- Weighing and movement of all customer and internal material, kilo bar weighing and final preparation, transferring and receiving of gold and silver product, shipping and receiving all high/low value material, prepare and verify muster book weights.
- Opening and closing of Metal Control vaults and areas, as required by Supervisor.
- Liaise with Customer Service, Representatives and Department Supervisors.
- Input data into mainframe computer system and Microsoft Excel.
- Perform housekeeping duties such as cleanliness and organization of vaults and Metal Control area.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
- The incumbent will work closely with other employees in the plant and office ensuring the verification and shipping and receiving of material is done in accordance with the procedures.
- This position ensures that record of information of incoming and outgoing material is completed with a high level of accuracy, and requires to work standard production hours. The incumbent may be required on occasion to work additional hours beyond the normal business day in order to assist with meeting deadlines as required.
- The incumbent is required to wear Personal Protecting Equipment/uniform at all times when in plant.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of High school diploma is required.
- 1-3 years’ experience performing shipping, receiving, material handling, and customs documentation.
- Strong mathematical skills are required.
- Must be detail oriented with high degree of accuracy.
- Fork lift certification will be an asset.
- Excellent time management skills; able to prioritize work.
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience within a metal refining, mining, metals, foundry, and/or chemical compounding plant, petrochemical or plating industry will be an asset

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
