Key Responsibilities
- Prepare fabricated steel components and assemblies for painting.
- Clean, mask, sand, grind, and otherwise prepare surfaces to ensure proper coating adhesion.
- Inspect products for defects or imperfections prior to painting and report any concerns.
- Ensure surfaces are free of dirt, grease, rust, moisture, and contaminants before coating application.
- Apply industrial wet paint coatings using spray guns, rollers, and brushes as required.
- Mix paints, coatings, and thinners according to manufacturer specifications and work instructions.
- Achieve required paint thickness, coverage, and finish quality.
- Maintain consistent coating application while meeting production schedules.
- Touch up painted surfaces as required.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality and customer requirements.
- Safely handle and store paints, solvents, and related materials.
- Review work orders, drawings, and production documentation to determine painting requirements.
- Coordinate with Fabrication, Welding, and Assembly teams to ensure efficient workflow.
- Properly identify, organize, and stage completed products for shipment or further processing.
- Assist with packaging and movement of finished products as required.
- Support production goals and assist in meeting delivery schedules.
- Clean and maintain spray guns, hoses, pumps, rollers, and painting equipment.
- Perform routine inspections of painting equipment and report maintenance concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized paint area.
- Ensure paint materials, supplies, and consumables are stored properly.
- Follow housekeeping standards to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Conduct visual inspections of painted products to identify defects such as runs, sags, uneven coverage, or contamination.
- Verify completed work meets company and customer quality standards.
- Report quality concerns and assist with corrective actions when required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Wear required PPE at all times.
- Safely handle paints, coatings, solvents, and related chemicals.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses immediately.
- Maintain compliance with OHSA requirements and company safety standards.
- Promote a positive safety culture through safe work habits and accountability.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of industrial painting experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment preferred.
- Experience applying wet paint coatings using conventional and/or airless spray equipment.
- Experience using rollers and brushes for touch-ups and specialty applications.
- Knowledge of paint preparation, mixing ratios, coating application techniques, and curing requirements.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, paint specifications, and production documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on a night shift.
- Strong reliability, attendance, and time-management skills.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels.
- Exposure to paint products, solvents, dust, fumes, and moving equipment.
- Frequent standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive physical activity throughout the shift.
- Work performed in designated paint and production areas.
- The weekly afternoon shift schedule is an average of 40 hours per week, M-T 5:15PM - 3:45AM

Pay: $23.00-$28.00 per hour
