East Tea Can is a modern Middle Eastern restaurant group known for high-quality food, hospitality, and innovation. With multiple locations across the GTA, we are expanding our bakery program and seeking an experienced Bakery Chef to join our Mississauga team.
Position Summary
The Bakery Chef will be responsible for overseeing bakery operations, including bread, pastry, and dessert production. This role requires technical skill, creativity, and the ability to maintain consistency and quality. The ideal candidate will be passionate about bakery, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Bakery cook Job Description
- Crafting and preparing all items from our bakery menu
- Ensuring every product meets the expectations of the customer and reflects well on the standards of the establishment
- Ensuring the workstation is restocked and cleaned as needed
- Keeping records of the bakery inventory, production levels, and deliveries
- Inspecting each baked product to ensure it meets quality requirements
- Displaying and decorating the finished products to make them client-ready
Role of the bakery Cook
- To produce all assigned menu items in an efficient and consistent manner, following specifications, recipes, and techniques of the restaurant
- To be eager to learn new cooking / baking techniques
- Act in a courteous and friendly manner with all interaction with fellow team members and guests
- Be enthusiastic, professional and hospitable
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support standards of cleanliness, timing, uniform, grooming, organization, production, food quality, and consistency
- Maintain the work area, including all counter tops, utensils, oven, deep fryer equipment, and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Inventory all products that may need to be stocked, pulled, and/or prepped – keep management informed of food quantities and quality in prep, on the line, and in holding
- Communicate effectively between alternate shifts (am and pm) and ensure station is stocked and ready for service for current and incoming shift
- Ensure proper rotation, labelling, and dating of all products
- Ensure all products are prepared, held, and served at correct temperatures and correct visual appearance
- Accurately complete all orders with uncompromising quality and consistency as per restaurant and Chef specifications
- Complete all food production and prep sheets as well as monitoring daily prep production
- Notify Chef of any repairs required to kitchen equipment
- Responsible for executing all Food Safety principles

Job Requirements
- Knowledge of general baking principles and understanding of a wide variety of recipes
- Knowledge of Middle Eastern baked dishes and breads is a Plus
Ability to create new baked goods and pastries
- Ability to work under strict deadlines and meet client expectations
- Excellent knowledge of safety, health rules, and quality controls
- Excellent understanding of imperial systems and metrics of measurements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to assist in the day-to-day operations within the bakeryAbility to prioritize and stay organized in a high-paced environment
- 2-years experience in same position, restaurant bakery/ commissary
- Excellent interpersonal & problem-solving skills
- Fluency in English both written and verbal
- Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to carry and lift items weighing 50lbs
- Must be able to stand and move for extended periods of time to continuously perform essential job functions
- Current and valid Food Safety Certification
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
