We are currently hiring for the position of:
STAGE MANAGER, MARKET
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Production Services, the Stage Manager, Market is responsible for the technical show calling, production coordination, and seamless execution of live programming at TIFF: The Market, while providing support for additional TIFF Lightbox and Festival venues as required.
As a key member of the Production Services team, the Stage Manager, Market serves as the primary production lead for Market programming, ensuring all technical elements, show operations, and venue requirements are effectively coordinated and delivered to the highest standard. This role works collaboratively with internal teams, artists, producers, technical vendors, and venue partners to create exceptional live experiences that align with the programming objectives and operational standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the Stage Manager, Market and primary show caller for live events at TIFF: The Market, managing all technical cues and coordinating with the Technical team to ensure seamless event execution.
Collaborate closely with the Technical team to communicate any updates or changes to the Run of Show on the day of the event, including timing adjustments, delays, or operational changes that may impact production delivery.
Partner with Front of House teams to coordinate key event milestones, including House Open, audience flow, and End of Show timing.
Communicate with the Event Coordinator and Senior Manager, Production Services regarding any event changes or developments that may impact production requirements, operations, or billing during the event.
Liaise with Events and Venue teams to coordinate with talent, speakers, and programmers, ensuring all participants are prepared and backstage ready for their scheduled appearances at TIFF: The Market.
Review event details, production schedules, technical requirements, and Run of Show documentation in advance of each event, proactively identifying questions, risks, or required adjustments.
Provide accurate and timely Stage Manager, Market reports and timesheets following each event, submitting documentation to the Assistant Production Manager and Senior Manager, Production Services.
Submit Post Mortem notes by the end of September, capturing key learnings, observations, and recommendations following the completion of TIFF: The Market programming.
JOB GRADE & SALARY:
Job Grade 2
$25.00 / hour
Our salary ranges reflect the range of skills and experience required for the role. Typically, candidates new to the role are positioned up to the midpoint of the range, with progression through the range based on performance and development over time. The top of the salary band is for employees who consistently demonstrate high performance in their role.

Flexible as schedule is based on events schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays
Able to work longer days and weekends during Festival dates
Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 3-5 years Stage Managing live events
Excellent technical understanding of technical aspects
Specific technical experience with large stages and theaters
Strong managerial, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to remain calm under pressure
Ensuring information is documented in timely manner
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter who is highly organized and detail-oriented
Attention to detail is a must; as they will be working on multiple events
Proficiency in Google Suite, MS Office Suite, including Word and Excel
Ability to work in a team environment and share information with many teams
Outgoing personality as this role works with both internal and external clients
