Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Math Instructor to inspire students and foster a love for mathematics. In this role, you will deliver engaging lessons tailored to diverse learning needs, including those of students requiring special education support. Your enthusiasm for teaching, combined with strong math skills and classroom experience, will help students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. Availability: 3 weekdays minimum (Monday-Friday)
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver interactive math lessons that cater to various learning styles and skill levels
- Utilize computer skills to incorporate educational software and digital resources into lessons
- Maintain a positive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, participation, and growth
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff to track student progress and develop personalized learning plans
- Manage classroom activities efficiently, ensuring safety and engagement at all times
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to students to promote continuous improvement
- Assist students with Mathnasium curriculum, homework, school assignments, and test preparation when appropriate
- Prepare and organize instructional materials and maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming learning environment
- Participate in centre events, activities, and special programming as required
Skills
- Prior experience working with children in educational, tutoring, coaching, or recreational settings is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of mathematics and the ability to explain concepts clearly to students of different ages and skill levels
- Outgoing, energetic, and dynamic personality with a natural ability to engage and motivate students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Patient, encouraging, and enthusiastic, especially when supporting students who may struggle with math
- Ability to adapt teaching styles to meet different learning needs and personalities
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to keep students focused and engaged
- Comfortable using computers, educational technology, and digital learning resources
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience in math or related subjects is an asset
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
