We are currently seeking a Product Development Engineer to lead the design and development of new electrical appliances and consumer electronic products from concept to commercialization.
Position Summary
This is a hands-on role ideal for a self-motivated and technically proficient engineer with a passion for innovating new consumer products. The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for research, prototyping, and technical development of small appliances and electrical products, collaborating with overseas manufacturers and internal teams to bring new ideas to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify opportunities for new electronic or electronical appliance products based on market trends and user needs.
- Design and prototype electrical circuits, enclosures, and mechanical layouts for new products.
- Evaluate product feasibility, including component sourcing, safety, and cost.
- Coordinate with overseas suppliers and manufacturers to refine designs and ensure production readiness.
- Prepare technical documentation, product specifications, and test plans.
- Ensure compliance with relevant certifications (e.g., FCC, UL, CE, CSA).
- Conduct product validation testing and manage iterations through feedback loops.
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, and quality assurance to support successful product launches.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of product development experience in R&D for small appliances, consumer electronics, or similar industries.
- Strong understanding of electrical design, prototyping, and safety standards.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Ability to work independently and manage development cycles from concept to completion.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working across time zones with overseas factories.
- Knowledge of product certification processes (UL, CE, CSA, FCC) is a strong asset.
Preferred Assets
- Mandarin language skills to support communication with suppliers.
- Experience with Amazon-focused product development or e-commerce product lifecycle.
- Background in IoT-enabled devices, smart home products, or battery-operated systems.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and circuit design tools.
