Join our team! AGF is seeking an Accounting Technician to join our dynamic team to based in Port Coquitlam. Reporting to the Controller, you’ll play a key role in processing monthly progress billings, managing client invoicing, and assisting with full-cycle accounting tasks. You’ll also collaborate closely with our sales, project management, and finance teams to streamline communication and ensure smooth collection processes.

About the Role - Your main responsibilities will include:
- Process monthly progress billings as per monthly shipments;
- Communicate with the Contracts Administrator to ensure the Change Orders and billings associated with Change Orders;
- Review invoice data accuracy and ensure compliance;
- Contact customers to follow-up on payments and collections;
- Apply payment, update accounts and data in the system;
- Post journal entries with appropriate working papers and supporting documentation;
- Post accruals, adjusting entries, forex, and reclass entries for month-end;
- Inspect transactions for discrepancies and compliance to internal controls and policies;
- Ensure that all journal entries are accurately prepared by deadlines and that general ledger accounts are reconciled on a timely basis;
- Assists in the preparation of financial statements, including intercompany transactions;
- Assist in the preparation of additional reporting packages for senior management;
- Assist with the preparation of budget and Forecast;
- Perform variance analysis and reconciliation of GL accounts;
- Assist with inventory analysis and reporting as needed;
- Support ad hoc projects and system change implementations as they arise;
- Prepare tax remittance details;
- Perform other accounting, administrative or analysis duties as assigned;
- Provides support to the Controller.
About You - The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Training or Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field;
- 2 to 3 years' experience in an accounts receivable role;
- 2 to 3 years' experience in construction;
- 2+ years in full cycle accounting experience preferably in the construction industry;
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures;
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
