About the Role:

Safe, skilled and efficient equipment operation is the meat and potatoes of our business and as such top-notch operators are critical to our team’s success. With a focus on quality and aesthetics, equipment operators are typically highly experienced members of the team who provide regular input and guidance. Working in a dynamic team-oriented environment, this role requires a precision-minded person who prides themselves on clean quality work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal and team safety acting as a safety leader in all aspects of the role.
- Adhere to all safety programs and protocols required by Wild’s health and safety management system, as well as that of Wild’s associates, clients and customers
- Excavator operation, with a primary focus on precision forestry and dirt work.
- Proficient and safe operation of various other types of equipment including skid steers, dozer, light vehicles, power tools, hand tools, and trailers
- Operate commercial vehicles to haul and mobilize equipment and materials to and from job sites
- Actively participating in regular on & off-site safety meetings
- Utilize mobile apps daily to complete hazards & equipment inspections, take pictures and communicate progress, and update logbook as required.
- Identify issues and perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance in the field or shop
- Work collaboratively with clients and maintain Wild’s high customer service standards
- Identify opportunities for improvement, including equipment and processes
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the team and up and coming operators
- Participate in training and upskilling as required
Base Qualifications:
- Safety is held as a core value, familiar with industry standard safety protocols.
- A strong work ethic and a helpful can-do attitude; someone who notices what needs doing and takes the initiative
- Self-managed with minimal or no supervision required
- Strong problem solving, communication and critical thinking skills, able to understand and work toward the big picture
- Team player, able to lead by example and provide regular input and ideas
- Min. 5yrs excavator operating experience in 5 to 30ton machines
- Class 5 Driver’s license and clean Driver’s Abstract. Able to supply their own daily transportation to Wild’s shop in the Crowsnest Pass, AB.
- Available to periodically work and stay away from home depending on project location and requirements
- Ability to lift, carry and push up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating commercial vehicles and maintaining a logbook
- Local industry knowledge and experience.
- Experienced using mobile apps for communication, daily documentation, work records etc.
- Able to work a staggered shift which may include Saturdays and/or Sundays
- Onsite wastewater (septic system) installation experience or training
- Excavator operator certification/training
- Trade certification and/or experience
- Previous experience in forestry operations or related field
- Industry certifications including first aid, TDG, faller certification, air brakes, wildfire etc.
