Scale/Grade: A0-05

Salary Range: $20.86 to $26.08 per hour

Hours: 37.5 Hours/Week; Variable Day Shifts, Monday to Friday

Status: Permanent Full-time

The Medical Administrative Assistant I utilizes knowledge of medical terminology and exercises judgment or decision-making to provide secretarial and clerical services, in support of professional/medical personnel, including: providing word processing/typing services for assigned personnel; performing reception responsibilities; maintaining written and/or electronic calendar/schedules; administering and monitoring billing procedures and budgeting records; providing support with arranging small and/or informal meetings / teleconferences / events; maintaining and modifying confidential medical electronic/paper filing/retrieval methods, systems, and/or formats; ensuring the efficient operation of the office; working closely with other administrative assistants in the department; performing other related clerical activities; performing cross-functional responsibilities, as assigned; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

To be considered for this role, you must have significant experience in managing time and tasks within an extremely busy Clinic, and have the ability to focus on the priorities of a rapidly changing day. You have excellent MS Office applications skills, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; superb organizational and time management skills and the ability to multitask effectively. The successful incumbent will show initiative and work well with a wide range of people throughout the organization. They will also be insightful, mature and tactful, remain calm under pressure and confident in their capability to perform well in the job and make it their own.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of Grade XII or recognized equivalent
Completion of recognized medical office administration program at the diploma level or equivalent
Completion of a medical terminology course
One (1) year related medical administrative support experience
Previous on-the-job computer/word-processing, database and spreadsheet software experience, in a Microsoft Office Environment preferred
Previous experience working with EPR (Electronic Patient Record) or PHS (Pathways Healthcare Screening) systems
OHIP billing preferred
Very good command of medical terminology
Very good interpersonal and customer service skills
Good organization and time management skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
Ability to work independently and as a team player
Experience working in a health care environment preferred
Experience working in a teaching hospital environment preferred
Knowledge of general office practices, procedures and standards
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
