Working closely with the staff at the Brantford Food Bank, the Coordinator, Network Programs and Food Procurement works to ensure the coordination of food support and food procurement for the Brantford Food Bank and the local Community Food Share Network. This position will be responsible for building relationships with food donors in our local community to ensure an adequate supply of quality food and grocery product is available for both individuals utilizing the Brantford Food Bank and those who access other food programs in our community. The Coordinator will be an organized, outgoing individual who understands the needs of our clientele. Understanding of warehouse coordination and logistics is a definite asset.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Ensuring the procurement of almost 1 million pounds of food and grocery products for the Food Bank and Community Food Share network to ensure we continue to support individuals and families in our community who are food insecure.
- Working within budget parameters, source and purchase of food and grocery products for all programs, to ensure responsible use of donated funds
- Support and coordination of community food drives to encourage food donations and community engagement
- Relationship building with food donors and supporters to secure ongoing support, retention and new food donors
- Working with food bank staff, ensure logistics and warehouse coordination for storage of food purchased and procured. Safe food handling and knowledge of FIFO processes will be importatnt to this position.
- Understanding the importance of quality food donations to our clientele
- Coordination with driver to arrange pick ups of donations on a daily basis at local grocery stores, food industry locations, and for local donors
- Communication and coordination of food support to 20 Community Food Share member agencies including program support, data sharing, development of the community food calendar, and coordination of food pick ups and deliveries
- Completed reports and statistical data for internal and funder reporting
Qualifications:
- Community College diploma or University degree
- Leadership and communication skills
- Demonstrated customer service skill
- Trained in Safe Food Handling
- Excellent organizational, written and communication skills
- Experience in a food warehouse setting is an asset
- Ability to work well with minimal supervision
- Good interpersonal skills with emphasis on customer service.
- Ability to create a positive work atmosphere for co-workers, volunteers, and participants
- Excellent problem solving ability
- Excellent time management skills
- Valid Class G driver's license and clean drivers abstract
- Knowledge of Microsoft software programs
