Overview
Road Family Law is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Law Clerk to support a sole practitioner focused on family law. The ideal candidate will assist the lawyer in various legal tasks, including research, drafting documents, and managing case files. This role is essential in supporting our legal operations and ensuring that all administrative tasks are executed efficiently. The Law Clerk will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the legal field while contributing to meaningful projects.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such CanLii and West Law.
- Draft legal documents, including financial statements, net family property statements, motions, and correspondence under the supervision of the lawyer.
- Correspond with lawyers and courts to arrange dates for conferences, or file court materials.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
- Assist with project management tasks related to ongoing cases and legal matters.
- Perform data entry and clerical duties to support the administrative functions of the office.
- Ensure compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
Experience
- Strong research skills with proficiency in using legal research databases
- Excellent writing skills for drafting clear and concise legal documents.
- Proven organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Experience in administrative roles or clerical work is preferred.
- Familiarity with legal drafting processes is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Project management experience is beneficial but not required.
