We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Vice-President, Sales & Commercial Strategy to lead our North American commercial organization and drive Vortex's next phase of sustainable and profitable growth.
Reporting directly to the Executive Vice-President and serving as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President, Sales & Commercial Strategy will be responsible for defining and executing Vortex's North American sales strategy, accelerating market penetration, strengthening channel partner performance, and ensuring excellence across our Regional Hub structure. This role will lead a high-performing organization of Regional Sales Directors, Sales Executives, and commercial support functions while fostering strong alignment across Customer Solutions, Marketing, Project Design, Technical Services, Installation, and Operations.
The ideal candidate is a strategic commercial leader who can translate market opportunities into actionable growth plans while building a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and performance.
What You'll Do
Commercial Strategy & Growth
- Develop and execute Vortex's North American sales and commercial strategy aligned with the company's long-term growth objectives.
- Drive revenue growth, market share expansion, profitability, and customer retention across all regions and business segments.
- Identify emerging market opportunities, customer trends, competitive threats, and strategic partnerships that support growth.
- Establish market penetration strategies and territory development plans that maximize regional potential.
- Lead annual sales planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management processes.
Regional Hub Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of Regional Sales Directors responsible for revenue and market outcomes within their respective territories.
- Ensure the Regional Hub model operates effectively through strong leadership, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Partner with regional leaders to develop and execute territory action plans based on market intelligence, customer needs, and growth opportunities.
- Foster a culture where market intelligence, customer insights, and best practices are shared across regions.
Customer & Channel Excellence
- Strengthen and expand relationships with key customers, strategic accounts, consultants, municipalities, developers, and channel partners.
- Lead the development of channel partner strategies that enhance market coverage, performance, and customer experience.
- Support major opportunities, contract negotiations, and strategic pursuits as required.
- Champion a customer-centric approach across all customer touchpoints, ensuring a seamless and differentiated experience.
Organizational Leadership
- Build, coach, and inspire a high-performing sales organization focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop talent pipelines and succession plans for key commercial leadership roles.
- Establish meaningful performance metrics, coaching frameworks, and development initiatives to elevate sales effectiveness.
- Promote a culture of consultative selling and trusted-advisor relationships.
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Partner closely with Customer Solutions, Marketing, Project Design, Technical Services, Operations, Manufacturing, and Product Development to ensure alignment between commercial priorities and organizational execution.
- Facilitate effective decision-making across the matrix organization while maintaining clarity of accountability.
- Drive improvements in project flow, customer experience, CRM adoption, and commercial processes.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure discipline in pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, CRM utilization, and sales analytics.
- Lead pricing strategy, commercial policies, incentive programs, and sales effectiveness initiatives.
- Leverage data and business intelligence to enhance decision making, productivity, and profitability.
- Establish KPIs that provide visibility into market performance, sales activity, pipeline health, customer retention, and revenue growth.
What You Bring
- 15+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, including senior commercial leadership roles.
- Proven success leading multi-region sales organizations and delivering sustained revenue growth.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineered products, construction-related, recreation, infrastructure, or complex B2B environment.
- Demonstrated success managing both direct sales teams and channel partner networks.
- Experience leading matrix organizations and aligning multiple functions toward common commercial objectives.
- Strong strategic planning, business development, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Exceptional leadership and coaching capabilities with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Strong financial and business acumen, including forecasting, pricing strategy, profitability management, and performance analysis.
- Proficiency with CRM systems, sales analytics, and commercial performance management.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, or a related discipline; MBA or equivalent advanced degree is considered an asset.
- Bilingual in English and French, both written and spoken.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout North America and internationally as required.
