At Alexander Willowridge, one of our core values is People First. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to support the successful execution of industrial construction and maintenance projects.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Controls Manager is responsible for overseeing project cost control, forecasting, scheduling, reporting, and performance tracking. This position works closely with field leadership, project management, accounting, and clients to ensure accurate project information, proactive risk management, and successful project delivery.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment where accurate cost tracking and timely reporting are critical to project success.
Key Responsibilities· Cost Control & Financial Management
· Track and monitor project costs including labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and consumables.
· Ensure all project costs are accurately captured, coded, and reported.
· Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports, forecasts, and productivity analyses.
· Monitor project performance against budgets and identify potential cost overruns.
· Work closely with field leadership to understand cost impacts, production rates, and project risks.
· Support change management processes, including tracking scope growth, extra work, and client-approved changes.
· Coordinate with accounting to resolve cost discrepancies and maintain financial accuracy.
· Ensure all supporting documentation is complete, organized, and audit-ready.
· Scheduling & Progress Monitoring
· Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules.
· Monitor project progress against planned milestones and identify schedule risks.
· Coordinate with project managers, site leadership, subcontractors, and clients to maintain schedule alignment.
· Track productivity and performance metrics to support project forecasting.
· Support recovery planning and corrective actions when schedule deviations occur.
· Reporting & Project Performance
· Develop and maintain project dashboards, reports, and performance metrics.
· Prepare detailed reports for internal leadership and client stakeholders.
· Analyze cost, schedule, and productivity trends, identify risks and variances, and provide recommendations to project leadership to improve project performance.
· Support project closeout activities and final project reporting.
· Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
· Process Improvement & Team Support
· Continuously improve project controls processes, systems, and reporting tools.
· Support project teams with data analysis, forecasting, and decision-making.
· Assist with procurement tracking, inventory management, and material controls.
· Promote consistency and best practices across all projects.
· Support other project-related activities as required.
Qualifications
· Diploma or degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in project controls, project management, cost control, scheduling, or project coordination within industrial construction, maintenance, oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, or heavy industrial environments.
· Demonstrated experience with project cost tracking, forecasting, scheduling, and performance reporting.
· Experience supporting multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
· Experience with project scheduling software is considered an asset.
· Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to create complex reports and analyze large datasets.
· Strong understanding of project cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, management, clients, and subcontractors.
· Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
· High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
