The Role
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious CNC Programmer/Machinist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality parts on a variety of manual and CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and radial drills. Utilizing company documentation (the "traveller") and blueprints, you will ensure that all production meets strict dimensional specifications while fully complying with our environmental, quality, health, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Setup & Operation: Program, setup, operate, and maintain computer numerically controlled (CNC) and manual machines to perform precision operations.
- Blueprint Reading: Read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, tooling, and operational sequences.
- Quality Control: Measure, examine, and inspect finished workpieces using precision instruments to ensure total conformance to drawings and specifications; maintain compliance with our Quality Management System.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Detect, isolate, and identify irregularities or malfunctions in machinery. Fabricate new parts to replace defective components during setup, maintenance, or overhauls.
- Production & Efficiency: Meet established production schedules and timelines while actively participating in the implementation of "Lean" principles.
- Safety & Culture: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Actively participate in all aspects of the health and safety program (including safe work practices, industrial hygiene, and good housekeeping).
What We Are Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Certification: Journeyperson / Red Seal Machinist certification, OR current enrollment/willingness to enroll in an apprenticeship program.
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience operating manual lathes and milling machines in a manufacturing environment. CNC machining experience (3 years preferred).
- Technical Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and machine accessories.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, ID/OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, scales).
- In-depth understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, and Fagor controllers is considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate an overhead crane.
- Mathematical Skills: Strong basic math skills, including geometry and algebra, for calculating material fabrication.
- Soft Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; a positive, team-oriented attitude; excellent problem-solving abilities; and strong attention to detail.
- Adaptability: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and remain adaptable to changing deadlines, demands, or unexpected events.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
