Zymeworks is proudly headquartered in our brand new, net-zero facility located in the vibrant Main St biotech hub of Vancouver, BC, with operations in Bellevue, WA, Dublin, Ireland, Singapore and the Bay Area.
This role will be located in our Vancouver, BC R&D laboratory and is full-time onsite.
- Designs, executes and analyzes in vitro experiments to assess function of cancer and autoimmune therapies.
- Carries out complex experiments using advanced techniques and troubleshoots experimental design to establish reproducible assay methodology.
- Develops standard operating procedures.
- Takes inventory, receives and prepares test articles for functional assessment in in vitro assays.
- Explains reasons for variances. May interpret results and make recommendations on findings.
- Prepares basic written reports and analysis of experiments; communicates results and analysis to working group.
- Seeks to understand ongoing projects through attention to scientific literature and internally generated data and employs this understanding to improve contribution to project goals.
- May contribute to co-authorship or acknowledgment for contributions to scientific papers.
- Maintains workspace laboratory and performs routine duties in order to keep areas stocked, clean, neat and in efficient operational order.
- Conducts all activities in accordance with scientific standards, OH&S regulations and established policies and practices.
- Ensures adherence to best practices and explores opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Fosters effective and collaborative working relationships with fellow employees and management.
- Requires a BSc in a relevant scientific discipline with 2-5 years of experience in related work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with cancer immunology and autoimmunity is beneficial.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in tissue culture of immortalized lines as well as primary human and mouse innate and adaptive immune cells.
- Proficiency in immunoassays (ELISA, cytokine arrays) and cytotoxicity assays.
- Experienced in multicolor intracellular and extracellular flow cytometry on human and mouse immune cell subsets, fluorochrome panel design and operation of flow cytometers.
- Highly skilled in data analysis and graphing/results presentation (GraphPad Prism or similar).
- Demonstrated aptitude for intrinsic motivation and organization.
- Effective English oral and scientific/technical writing communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional team and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Works effectively in a high paced, multi-tasking, fast changing environment. Results-oriented.

- Flow cytometry
- ELISA/MSD
- High-content analysis
- Immunological/co-culture assays
- Reporter Gene Assays
- Cell-separation
- General knowledge of antibody structure/function

The Canadian base salary range for this full time position is $60,000 - $92,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all Canadian locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by a variety of factors and the salary offered may vary depending on the successful candidate’s location and qualifications (including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, education, training, skills, and experience).
