Safety First Contracting Ltd., operating as AWP Safety, is seeking a full-time Operations Manager for the Fredericton, NB area. We are looking for a motivated and organized leader with strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be capable of working independently, leading teams effectively, and consistently meeting deadlines while maintaining exceptional service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee daily operations and company assets.
- Plan and coordinate traffic control staffing requirements, including scheduling personnel and deploying resources.
- Recruit, onboard, supervise, and support traffic control personnel.
- Monitor work in progress, resolve operational issues, and ensure service commitments are met.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by identifying service needs, negotiating requirements, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Prepare traffic control plans, quotations, and determine project equipment and material requirements.
- Review customer billing, employee time records, and payroll information for accuracy.
- Conduct pre-construction hazard assessments, site inspections, spot checks, and certification verification to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and implement process improvements, policies, and procedures.
- Manage schedules, equipment utilization, productivity standards, and toolbox talks.
- Complete administrative functions, including reporting, file management, payroll support, and operational documentation.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve service delivery, productivity, and operational performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- High school diploma (post-secondary education in business, management, or a related field is considered an asset).
- Previous management or supervisory experience.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a collaborative management style.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively delegate and manage competing priorities.

- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
