OVERVIEW:
Riverview is looking for a full-time Lead Hand in the Packaging department. We are looking for assertive, independent, yet team-oriented individuals, who display the necessary traits to help achieve our daily goals. This means a person who; displays leadership abilities, leads by example, understands the department and equipment used, understands the tasks involved, is able to complete departmental tasks, has an interest in growth and development, is goal-oriented, and is capable of bridging the gap between employees and organizational success. Training for this role will be provided.
REQUIREMENTS:
To be seriously considered for this role, please have the following in regard to:
- 1-3 Year experience in an leadership role
- Previous experience in a manufacturing considered an assets
- Must be able to work with team members and be cross-trained to multiple tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills to direct the work of others while maintaining composure in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to do manual labor and lifting (repetitive sorting, moving, and lifting of boxes up to 60lbs
- Must be able to lift birds between 3.2kg and 4.5kg.
- Strict attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Quick learner, self-motivated, able to work independently, and results orientated.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Riverview Lead Hand, your responsibilities and duties will include but not limited to:
- Monitor and leading employees in the packaging department on a daily basis to ensure tasks are completed.
- Create a daily rotation schedule and ensure employees rotate to their stations in a timely manner.
- Assist with the handling, sorting, and packing of birds in boxes.
- Hand-eye coordination is necessary throughout the many packing line jobs.
- Pack and prepare customers' orders.
- Work on the packing line, including dumping, mixing, and shoveling.
- Safe food handling while working at each task to comply with food safety legislation.
- Safe operation of production machinery and equipment.
- Maintain compliance with food safety legislation when completing each task
- Ensure a healthy and safe work environment while meeting targets and goals.
- Leads and contributes to the team and the whole facility in a positive way.
- Report to the packaging supervisor any complaints or issues that may arise during the day regarding shipping issues or employee issues.
- Inform the Packaging Supervisor of any accidents or injuries in the department and begin the Accident/Incident Investigation Form when an incident occurs.
- Responsible for training and mentoring employees in the department.
- Inventory check at the end of the work week.
- Prepare and set up end-of-shift cleaning station.
- Sanitize the Packaging break room to maintain a clean area during COVID-19.
