Job Summary
The Produce Manager oversees the daily operations of the produce department, ensuring the highest standards of quality, freshness, and customer service. This leadership role involves managing staff, maintaining merchandising standards, and ensuring efficient store operations. The Produce Manager plays a vital role in driving sales, managing inventory, and fostering a positive shopping experience for customers. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of produce department staff, including recruiting, training, and developing team members.
- Manage inventory levels through purchasing, pricing strategies, and stock rotation to minimize waste and maximize sales.
- Oversee merchandising efforts to ensure attractive displays that promote products and enhance customer engagement.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Utilize POS systems for sales transactions, inventory tracking, and reporting purposes.
- Implement marketing initiatives to promote produce specials and seasonal items.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper sanitation and storage procedures.
- Monitor department budgets and control costs through effective planning and resource management.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate goals, updates, and training sessions on product knowledge or customer service techniques.
- Perform administrative tasks such as payroll processing, bookkeeping, and record keeping related to department operations.
Qualifications
- Proven retail management experience with a focus on produce or grocery departments.
- Strong leadership skills with previous supervising or team management experience.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Proficiency in using POS systems, merchandising tools, and basic math for pricing and inventory calculations.
- Effective communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases.
- Experience in negotiation, purchasing, budgeting, and marketing strategies within a retail environment.
- Demonstrated ability in training & development, sales management, and store management practices.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.

Pay: $35,180.08-$66,597.65 per year
