Job Summary
Our healthcare team is hiring a skilled Medical Receptionist for a part-time maternity leave contract, with the possibility of a permanent part-time position to follow. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for patients and a key support to our clinical staff — managing appointments, maintaining accurate patient records, and ensuring seamless day-to-day administration. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, experience in a fast-paced medical or dental setting, and confidence working with electronic medical record systems.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression
- Manage multi-line phone systems to schedule appointments, answer inquiries, and relay messages accurately
- Verify patient information and update electronic medical records
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments in accordance with provider availability
- Collect insurance information and process billing or co-payments at the front desk
- Maintain organized patient files and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
- Assist with check-in and check-out procedures, including updating medical histories and consent forms
- Handle administrative tasks such as faxing, scanning, and managing correspondence related to patient care
- Supporting healthcare workers where necessary by preparing rooms and tools, and pulling charts and ensuring smooth patient flow throughout the day
- Maintain a clean and hygienic environment
- Other duties as required
Requirements
- Prior experience as a Dental Receptionist or Medical Office Receptionist is highly preferred
- Proficiency with electronic medical records systems such as Epic or Dentrix is essential
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dental or healthcare settings
- Office experience with front desk responsibilities in a busy environment
- Familiarity with multi-line phone systems and appointment scheduling software
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and staff
- Knowledge of medical office procedures, insurance processing, and billing practices is a plus
- Previous experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is desirable
