Position Summary
OzoneBio is seeking a Wood Products Refining Technician to join our R&D team. The successful candidate will assist with biomass processing, bio-oil fractionation, distillation, and pilot-scale operations. This is a practical laboratory position requiring strong mechanical, attention to detail, and experience operating chemical processing equipment. The ideal candidate has experience with distillation systems, biomass or petrochemical processing, bio based chemical production, or related industrial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain laboratory and pilot-scale distillation equipment.
- Perform fractionation and refining of wood-derived products.
- Prepare feedstocks, solvents, catalysts, and process materials.
- Assemble, operate, and troubleshoot reactors, condensers, pumps, and related equipment.
- Monitor process parameters including temperature, pressure, flow rate, and vacuum.
- Collect, label, and prepare samples for analytical testing (GC-MS, HPLC, ICP, etc.).
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and operating logs.
- Assist with process optimization, scale-up experiments, and equipment commissioning.
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures, SOPs, and chemical handling protocols.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and perform routine equipment maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.
- Experience operating distillation systems, fractional distillation columns, evaporators, or related separation equipment.
- Experience handling organic solvents and chemical processing equipment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to safely work with flammable chemicals and pressurized systems.
- Attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
In a startup environment, team members often wear multiple hats. While not required, the following skills and experience would be considered strong assets:
-Experience with science communication, technical storytelling, or translating complex technical concepts into engaging content for non-technical audiences.
-Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, tiktok etc) and creating content for company or research-related communications.
-Basic photo, video, or graphic editing skills using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar.
-Experience supporting marketing initiatives, product launches, trade shows, or outreach campaigns.
-Strong writing and editing skills for technical articles, blog posts, website content, newsletters, or social media.
-Interest in public relations, branding, and communicating innovation to industry stakeholders.
-Creative mindset with the ability to contribute ideas for marketing campaigns, educational content, and customer engagement.
-Comfortable collaborating across technical, business development, and marketing teams in a fast-paced startup environment.

Pay: $35,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
