We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our team.
This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing essential support to both patients and healthcare professionals.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a familiarity with medical terminology, and experience with front desk operations in a busy family practice.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression of the office.
- Manage front desk operations, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and handling patient inquiries.
- Maintain accurate patient records using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Assist with insurance verification and processing of patient information.
- Prepare and manage patient charts for upcoming appointments, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
- Coordinate communication between patients and healthcare providers to facilitate efficient care delivery.
- Setting up rooms for procedures/exams.
- Preparing patients for examinations and assisting the physician with physicals and minor procedures.
- Prepare and sterilize medical instruments and equipment.
- Ensure the office environment is clean, organized, and welcoming for patients.
- Support administrative tasks as needed, including filing, faxing, and data entry.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Medical Office Assistant in a family practice required (5yrs+).
- Familiarity with medical terminology and office procedures is essential.
- Proficiency in using a multi-line phone system and managing electronic medical records is required.
- Experience with PSS is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are crucial for success in this position.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and staff members alike.
- Familiarity with hospital procedures, local specialists, private diagnostic services and crisis support.
