We are looking for a responsible, enthusiastic Full Time Auto Body Painter & Refinish Technician to join our team. We offer competitive wages and extended health, dental, and vision coverage. Over view:
The paint technician is an auto body technician that specializes in painting and refinishing automobiles. They will have a knowledge of paint and varnish types, paint properties, application methods and the tools and equipment required (e.g., brushes, rollers, airbrushes, dryer lamps and drying ovens).
· Physical fitness and stamina, as paint technicians may need to stand up for long periods of time, lift heavy materials or work in small and cramped spaces (e.g., underneath cars or in the booth)
· Organization skills, as paint technicians will need to ensure that repairs are they are completed before the deadline. They will also need to ensure that all paint is kept tidy and in order
· Attention to detail, as noticing issues in paint work requires someone who can notice the smallest scratches and imperfections
· Customer-service skills, as paint technicians must be good a listening, understanding and communicating with paying customers
Primary duties include but not limited to:
- Performing all aspects of Automotive Painting & Refinishing
- Performing prep work when required
- Mixing colors, refinishing and painting vehicle and vehicle components
- Determining necessary application of paint for a thorough coat
- Trouble shooting and correcting color discrepancies by wet sanding, polishing etc.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow work orders
- Ability to learn/stay current with the newest techniques and materials
- Performing quality control checks on vehicles
- Maintaining paint booth and equipment
- Attending training process for new products and refinishing procedures
- Day to day interactions with colleagues and vendors, working with shop Foreman to deliver vehicles
Qualifications:
- Ticketed technician preferred however, qualified apprentices will also be considered
- Class 5 Drivers License - ability to drive automatic and manual
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure and fast paced environment. Be self-governing, proactive, and responsible for accomplishing goals with limited supervision
Experience:
Auto Body Paint: 2 years (preferred)
License/Certification:
- ITA Painter Ticket (preferred)
