Position Summary
We are seeking a driven, community-minded professional to join our team as a full-time Financial Security & Life Insurance Advisor. In this regular, full-time role, you will lead with education to help clients navigate their financial journeys. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong client relationships, conducting comprehensive financial needs assessments, and delivering tailored life insurance, investment, retirement, and wealth management solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Education & Client Advisory
Lead client interactions with an educational approach, hosting workshops, seminars, and one-on-one sessions to promote financial literacy.
Conduct comprehensive financial needs assessments for individuals, families, and business owners.
Analyze clients' financial situations and design customized, easy-to-understand insurance and investment strategies.
Educate clients on wealth accumulation, retirement planning (RRSPs, TFSAs), education savings (RESPs), and estate planning.
Recommend and facilitate appropriate risk management solutions, including Term, Whole, and Universal Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Disability Insurance, and Segregated Funds.
Conduct structured annual reviews to ensure clients' financial plans remain aligned with their evolving goals.
Business Development & Community Engagement
Prospect, network, and generate new business opportunities through referrals, community engagement, and educational seminars.
Build and maintain a robust client portfolio to meet company and individual growth objectives.
Develop strategic relationships with community organizations, employers, professional associations, and cultural groups.
Actively promote financial literacy and build trust within newcomer and multicultural populations, with a specific focus on African, Caribbean, and immigrant communities.
Operations, Compliance & Service
Manage client accounts full-time, assisting with policy applications, underwriting requirements, and ongoing service requests.
Process applications, policy updates, beneficiary changes, and investment transactions accurately.
Maintain precise client records and CRM documentation in strict compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
Ensure the highest level of confidentiality and professional handling of all client information.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Certifications
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
Licensing: LLQP (Life License Qualification Program) completed, or a strong willingness to obtain it immediately upon hire.
Securities: Mutual Funds or Securities License completed, or a willingness to obtain it.
Core Competencies & Technical Skills
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Strong aptitude for consultative sales, presentations, and public speaking (educational workshops).
High level of professionalism, ethics, and personal integrity.
Strong organizational and time-management skills to thrive in a full-time regular office environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and CRM software.
Preferred Assets & Language Requirements
Previous experience in banking, financial advisory, wealth management, or Human Resources (employee benefits administration).
An established professional network or deep experience working within African, Caribbean, and newcomer communities.
Language Asset: Fluency in Swahili, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, or French is considered a significant asset to enable us to service our growing client base in their language of choice.
