The Reporting Specialist is responsible for supporting production of defined reporting output as directed. This team member will execute reporting activities as well as perform ongoing maintenance/calibration to ensure reported output is accurate, of pertinent data quality and encompasses evolving data ranges (i.e. new model introductions) appropriately. This team member will be encouraged and counted upon to provide observations of trends identified within the context of output produced. The specialist will compile raw data from various sources while exercising confidentiality in all aspects. This team member will be expected to develop skills with respect to using advanced reporting software such as IBM Cognos, SAS and various cloud applications as appropriate in order to support overall reporting team performance.
In this role you will:
- Generate reports using Excel, Cognos and Salesforce and associated tools used by the reporting team
- Demonstrate comprehension of reported output in support of quality control and accuracy
- Work with data that encompasses various performance and operational metrics associated with KPI’s leveraged by multiple internal/external customers
- Demonstrate comfort/competence/proficiency producing reporting dashboards, KPI reports, multi data source reports as deemed required
- Assist with production components of ongoing and ad hoc reporting items that service a wide range of internal/external customers that may include executive leadership, investor relations team members as well as colleagues at General Motors, consistently ensuring the highest quality and accuracy of reported output as assigned
- Work closely with all operational areas on assigned reporting activities to ensure respective reporting needs are met
- Ensure all reports are prepared accurately and within the Department Guidelines
- Communicate and Interact both written and verbally with various entities internally and externally
- Conduct analysis as required on new and ongoing reporting output to ensure appropriate quality controls are in place and ensuring the highest degree of accuracy
- Provide any observations/feedback relevant to refining reported output and/or as would be helpful to the reporting recipient
- Perform data mining using SQL, SAS, Cognos, Microsoft Access and/or excel via Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- Support system integration through performance of defined testing scripts as deemed necessary.
- Assist with assigned projects that may involve significant data review and feedback documentation requirements.
- Actively participate in various testing and QA activities within the reporting team or in collaboration with other departmental teams as deemed required.
Additional Knowledge and Skills
Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:
- Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
- Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
- Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
- Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection

Work Experience & Education
- Post-secondary degree or diploma required.
- Automotive Finance, Data Reporting and Analytics, Leasing or Retail Finance preferred
- Experience with data analysis, data mining, statistic, and forecasting and loan portfolio analysis as asset
- 1-3 years of experience in a similar role preferred
- Experience with Cognos, SAS, Salesforce and Excel dashboards preferred
Previous experience with mining high volumes of data

The base range for this role is: $50,000-$75,000
At GM Financial, we strive for transparency in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education.
This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan. Full time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits after 30 days of employment.
