Job Overview
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for administering the Volunteer Program of Ian Anderson House.
The primary function of this role is to recruit, train, coordinate, and supervise volunteers for Ian Anderson House, while fostering an environment where confidentiality is maintained to the highest standard.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Recruit, interview, train, and be responsible for all aspects of the Volunteer Program.
- Provide clearly understood expectations and limits for volunteers.
- Coordinate the volunteers required for special events.
- Coordinate volunteer support for special services, including mailings, garden volunteers etc.
- Create an efficient work climate and provide effective supervision to volunteers.
- Coach and mentor volunteers on the standards necessary for the professional delivery of volunteer services.
- Meet ongoing scheduling requirements for volunteers.
- Conduct reference checks for all new volunteers.
- Supervise volunteer placements and volunteer summer students.
- Complete and maintain volunteer files and related documentation.
- Schedule and participate in volunteer-related meetings, including training sessions.
- Carry out special projects as assigned.
- Complete miscellaneous duties as they arise.
- Be accessible to volunteers and foster open communication at all times.
- Ensure volunteers are adhering to confidentiality agreements.
- Keep the Executive Director informed of situations and issues that fall outside the regular scope of responsibility.
Qualifications
- Experience in volunteer coordination, administration, or a related role.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteers effectively.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all situations.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, schedules, and special events.
- Competence in Microsoft 365 and other standard office software.
- Experience in a not-for-profit, hospice, or health care setting is an asset.
Pay: $28.00-$34.00 per hour
