Job Summary
Join our dynamic construction team as a Traffic Control Person, where your role is vital in ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow around active work zones. You will be responsible for directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic, setting up and maintaining safety signage, and supporting construction crews by creating a secure environment. Duties
- Set up and take down traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, signs, and flagging equipment to establish safe work zones
- Direct vehicle and pedestrian movement around construction sites, ensuring compliance with safety protocols
- Communicate clearly with drivers, pedestrians, and team members to coordinate safe passage through or around work areas
- Monitor the site for potential hazards or unsafe behaviors and report issues promptly to supervisors
- Assist with the operation of heavy equipment when trained and certified, supporting paving or other construction activities as needed
- Maintain accurate records of traffic control activities, incidents, and safety checks throughout shifts
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to protect yourself, colleagues, and the public
Experience
- Prior experience in traffic control or construction environments is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidates
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation is a plus, especially if involved in supporting paving or other construction tasks
- Construction experience helps in understanding site safety protocols and project workflows
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and the public
