Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Animal Care Technician to support our bovine reproduction programs across on-farm, clinic, and laboratory settings. This hands-on role works with embryo production, IVF, and semen teams to assist with daily cattle care, reproductive procedures, and lab processes.
This position offers a mix of livestock handling, technical lab work, and client coordination in a fast-paced environment. Some travel, and seasonal extended hours are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with OPU, embryo transfer (ET), and in vivo collections
- Support IVF lab work including oocyte searching, embryo handling, grading, freezing, and thawing
- Assist with semen collection, processing, freezing, and inventory management
- Prepare supplies, equipment, and materials for procedures and lab work
- Maintain accurate donor, recipient, embryo, and inventory records
- Travel to farms to assist with collections and transfers
- Perform health testing on cattle
- Maintain cleanliness of facilities, lab spaces, and equipment
- Communicate with clients and coordinate scheduling, sire selection, and program details
- Support general operations as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, or related education preferred
- Cattle handling experience required
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, email)
- Effective communication and client service skills
- Comfortable working with microscopes, lab equipment, and liquid nitrogen
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
Preferred Experience
- Experience in bovine reproduction (ET, IVF, semen collection)
- Basic laboratory experience (microscopy, pipetting)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
