Synergy Kids is looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team as an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR or Part-Time Employee. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping children and the ability to create individualized treatment plans that address the needs of kids and youth with autism spectrum disorder. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing client's strengths and needs often through observational or informal assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and providing guidance and support to clients and their families. The Occupational Therapist must also have excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals such as BCBA/RBA, ABA Therapist, SLP/CDA and Respite Staff. The ideal candidate will begin employment in September/October.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' abilities, needs, and conditions.
- Develop individualized treatment plans to help patients reach their goals.
- Collaborate with family/ABA Team to inform client's Treatment Plan.
- Provide patient and family education on how to use assistive devices and other therapeutic tools. Individual Authorizer status preferred.
- Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic exercises, activities, and techniques.
- Provide clinical supervison to client's receiving services from an Occupational Therapy Assistant(OTA)
- Evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and modify plans as needed.
- Document patient progress in medical record, Jane.app.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and/or complex behavioural challenges considered an asset
Experience in specialty areas such as sensory processing, mental health domains, adaptive equipment, and biopsychosocial approach is considered an asset
Individual Authorizer with The Ontario Assistive Devices Program is considered an asset.
Ability to work independently without daily supervision, as well as part of an interdisciplinary team member.
Strong assessment, planning, priority setting, and problem solving skills; demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
Providing proof of vaccination for COVID-19 and maintaining vaccination status as necessary from time to time during employment.
Experience with the Ontario Autism Program is considered an asset.
Available for in-person sessions 3-6 hours per week at a fixed schedule. Virtaul supervision and in-person assessments could be considered for the right applicant (1-3 hours per week). Please note that most client sessions occur weekend and evenings based on client demand.
Compensation: $50-$250per hour depending on experience, in-person availability for weekend/evening sessions and employee vs. contractor status.
