Business Unit: Human Resources
Location: Lax Kw’alaam, British Columbia
Reporting to: Human Resources Manager
The Lax Kw’alaams Human Resources Department has an exciting and immediate opening for a Full Time Human Resources Coordinator. As a key member of the HR team, this role is responsible for providing a wide range of administrative and operational support while serving as a welcoming and responsive point of contact for employees. This role supports effective communication, timely responses to employee inquiries, and the smooth delivery of day-to-day Human Resources services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive clerical and administrative support to the Human Resources Department
- Assist with recruitment activities, including printing and organizing resumes, screening applications, managing initial communications with candidates, scheduling interviews and participating in interviews when requested
- Prepare and process new employee documentation, including onboarding paperwork, gathering required employee information, and completing benefits and pension plan enrolment
- Support payroll processes by providing accurate and timely employee information and documentation
- Maintain and update employee records, ensuring information is accurate, current, organized, and kept strictly confidential
- Process HR documentation and prepare reports as requested
- Coordinate HR projects, meetings, surveys, and other related administrative activities
- Assist with organizing employee training and development sessions, including researching employees’ training and development needs to identify areas for improvement and support them in performing their roles more effectively
- Collect and analyze feedback from training and development activities and monitor compliance with ongoing learning and development initiatives
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, company policies, HR procedures, and collective agreement provisions, while fostering a positive, professional, and open line of communication
- Assist with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) matters by supporting the coordination and documentation of health and safety-related activities, maintaining relevant records, and escalating issues to the appropriate personnel as requested
- Perform other duties within the scope of the position, as assigned by the Human Resources Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Post-Secondary Education in related field (Asset)
- Diploma, degree, or recognized certification in Human Resources or a related field (Asset)
Experience
- A combination of relevant education and work experience will be considered
- Experience in an HR Assistant, HR Coordinator, office support, or other relevant administrative role (Asset)

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

- Knowledge of Payworks payroll system (Asset)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common office equipment

Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Physical Demand
- Must be able to remain seated at a desk for extended periods while using a computer or phone
- Occasionally lift and carry office supplies
Mental Demand
- Must be able maintain patience and composure during stressful or emotionally charged situations
- You will have to complete several tasks and responsibilities at one time and must be prepared to deal with emergencies and stressful situations at any time
Condition of Employment

- Acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Valid Driver’s License (Class 5) (Asset, or required depending on location)
Classification/Pay Scale
- $27.92
