Base Hourly rate $44.99, - Base Salary is $93,585.87 but with Rotating Shift bonus and build in Overtime it is $47.31/hr - Salary with Rotating shift bonus and OT- $103,334.81
A Day in the Life Video
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
- Responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of all stationary engineering equipment and systems in the facility to minimize downtime and therefore support achievement of factory safety, quality, production, and cost goals.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise to ensure that equipment operates safely and economically and within established limits by monitoring attached meters, gauges, and computerized controls.
- Supervise the safe operation and maintenance of boilers and steam systems; heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems; building automation systems; compressed air systems; nitrogen pumps, piping and compressed gas systems; refrigeration systems; plant fire systems; and sprinklers; and electrical systems and numerous other physical plant functions.
- Oversee routine maintenance, such as repairing and replacing pumps, motors, and other operating equipment, lubricating moving parts, replacing filters, and removing soot and corrosion that can reduce operating efficiency.
- Communicate with Goodyear Chief Engineer, Facilities Manager, Engineering Manager, Goodyear maintenance team members, co-workers, and business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
- Must possess excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of functions simultaneously.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Powerhouse
- Comply with all requirements of the Operating Engineers Act.
- Comply with all requirements of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Acts in accordance with Provincial (TSSA) legislation.
- Responsible for ensuring the necessary powerhouse performance to provide plant operating requirements and demands.
- Maintain required provincial certificate of qualification at the appropriate level.
- Responsible for the safe, efficient and effective operations of powerhouse equipment.
- Comply with appropriate quality system (QS) and Environmental Health & Safety system documentation of powerhouse operations and equipment.
- Accept and assume responsibility for being on a 24-hour on-call basis for boiler emergencies, if/when applicable.
- Adherence to all required company policies, processes and protocols.
- Monitor key performance indicator trends of all equipment and report gaps to the Chief Engineer.
Compressed Air System
- Follow all proper start up and shut down procedures of all compressors and associated equipment to meet all plant requirements.
- Comply with appropriate quality system (QS) and Environmental Health & Safety system documentation of powerhouse operations and equipment.
- Monitor compressed air system to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Ensure proper response time to all compressed air alarms and/or failures and participate in corrective actions/plans.
- Adherence to all required company policies, processes and protocols.
- Monitor key performance indicator trends of all equipment and report gaps to the Chief Engineer and/or Goodyear Facilities Manager.
Nitrogen Distribution Systems
- Monitor and report nitrogen system performance and report any deficiencies.
- Ensure safe and proper operation, distribution of nitrogen system from the powerhouse to plant associated equipment.
- Ensure proper response time to all alarm conditions and/or failures and participate in corrective actions/plans.
- Execute all work orders in an efficient manner and in accordance with appropriate standards.
- Adherence to all required company policies, processes and protocols.
- Monitor key performance indicator trends of all equipment and report gaps to immediate manager.
Plant Fire Monitoring & Support Equipment
- Ensure safe operation and testing of all plant fire equipment.
- Oversee and co-ordinate testing, inspections of the Simplex fire panel.
- Ensure regular testing of all diesel fire pumps and electrical generators.
- Monitor Fire system equipment performance and report any deficiencies to immediate manager.
H.V.A.C. Equipment Operation & Support
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all HVAC equipment required to support the plant.
- Ensure proper response time to all alarm conditions and/or failures and participate in corrective actions/plans.
- Execute all work orders in an efficient manner and in accordance with appropriate standards.
- Adherence to all required company policies, processes and protocols.
- Monitor key performance indicator trends of all equipment and report gaps to Chief Engineer and/or Goodyear Facilities Manager.
Environmental
- Participate in training sessions on environmental best practices and sustainability efforts.
- Execute tasks relating to environmental systems maintenance, documentation of relevant emissions, waste management programs, disposal of hazardous material, etc.
- Uphold energy-efficient practices and water conservation measures to reduce the plant's environmental footprint.
Additional Responsibilities & Expectations
- Report any concerns or deficiencies that may introduce risk to safety, health, environment, compliance, and productivity to the Chief Engineer and/or Goodyear Facility Manager.
- Requirement to participate in shutdown activities on scheduled statutory holidays is required to complete preventative maintenance and projects.
- This position requires working on Shutdown days/Statutory Holidays
- Work schedule follows a continental Shift rotation (Days /Nights), and if selected could include straight day shift but would still be required to cover on-shift for vacation coverage.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- Required: 3rd Class Operating Engineer Certification, requires 3-5 years' experience
