Our client is a well-established manufacturer that is actively modernizing its data environment, including a migration of its reporting estate from an existing data warehouse into a Microsoft Fabric lakehouse architecture. They are hiring a Data Analyst to sit at the centre of the business intelligence function, serving as the go-to person for data across the analytics and engineering teams. It is a broad, visible role in a large analytics community, with genuine room to grow as the organization matures its data capabilities.
- Respond to and resolve daily business intelligence requests from stakeholders across the organization.
- Design, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, and Excel, including role-based access and security.
- Write and optimize T-SQL queries, and build and manage the data models that support reporting and visualization.
- Analyze source systems and data flows to understand how information moves through the business and where it shapes decisions.
- Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and recommend improvements to corporate and departmental reporting.
- Support the migration of reports and dashboards from the existing data warehouse into a Microsoft Fabric lakehouse architecture with minimal disruption to users.
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies, contributing to master data governance and data quality initiatives.
- Build out the data catalogue and glossary so corporate data assets are easier to find, understand, and trust.
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis, covering relational and dimensional data modeling, information management, and analytics.
- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI or Tableau, including DAX, DAX Studio, and Power Query (M).
- Ability to write complex T-SQL for query optimization and data manipulation; Python is an asset.
- Experience working with both structured and unstructured data, including cleansing, joining, and merging large datasets.
- Comfort connecting to diverse sources such as databases, file-based sources, SharePoint, APIs, and cloud services including Azure SQL.
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and the SQL Server stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS) is a strong asset given the migration underway, as is a track record of building dashboards adopted by an entire business unit.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, database design, business systems analysis, or a related field.
- A collaborative, self-directed working style, comfortable with ambiguity, able to prioritize across multiple projects and translate complex data problems into clear answers for non-technical stakeholders.
