Summary
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes according to the Executive Chef’s specifications, maintaining consistency in flavor, presentation, and execution in a fast-paced, fine-dining kitchen. This role involves setting up and stocking stations, handling ingredients with care, and operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. The Line Cook upholds exacting standards of quality and sanitation, contributing to the smooth, timely delivery of exceptional culinary experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and stock workstations with required ingredients and supplies
- Prepare and cook menu items to specification
- Plate and garnish dishes with consistency and attention to presentation standards
- Clean and maintain equipment, utensils, and work areas.
- Ensure compliance with food handling, storage, and sanitation protocols.
- Store and label food and ingredients properly, maintaining freshness and minimizing waste
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 3 years as a line cook; fine dining experience preferred.
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate required prior to start date (or proof of scheduled testing)
- Culinary training (Cook Level 1 or 2, Red Seal, or equivalent) preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the workplace
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to kitchen standards
Working Conditions
- Exposure to kitchen hazards such as heat, steam, sharp tools, and slippery floors
- Repetitive tasks and prolonged standing; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Evening, weekend, holiday shifts, and occasional overtime required.
