The Opportunity
Arjae is seeking a Scheduler / Project Controls Specialist to support the planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of engineering and fabrication projects. This role combines project scheduling expertise with project controls functions, providing critical support to Project Managers, Engineering Teams, and Fabrication Teams throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules, tracking performance, supporting forecasting activities, and providing meaningful project insights that help ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Project Scheduling
- Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules for engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction activities.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Foremen, and Leads to develop realistic project execution plans.
- Conduct schedule reviews and participate in project team meetings.
- Perform critical path analysis and identify schedule risks, constraints, and opportunities.
- Monitor project progress and schedule performance and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
- Analyze schedule changes resulting from scope revisions, delays, or productivity issues.
- Support schedule recovery planning and optimization efforts when required.
- Track manpower, equipment, and resource utilization requirements.
Project Controls
- Assist in establishing and maintaining project baselines for schedule, cost, and progress measurement.
- Track project performance against established plans and identify variances.
- Support project forecasting activities, including schedule and resource forecasts.
- Prepare project reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.
- Assist Project Managers with progress tracking, earned progress measurement, and project status reporting.
- Support change management activities by documenting and assessing schedule impacts.
- Participate in job cost analysis and project performance reviews.
- Assist with risk identification and mitigation planning.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
- Partner with Project Managers and project teams to support effective project execution.
- Communicate schedule status, risks, and forecasted outcomes to stakeholders.
- Support proposal development and estimating activities through schedule preparation and planning input.
- Foster collaboration between engineering, fabrication, procurement, and project management teams.
- Promote and support Arjae's Safety Management System and programs.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Completion of a Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or related technical program.
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
- PMP, AACE, or other project controls certifications are considered assets.
Experience
- 3 to 7 years of experience in project scheduling, project controls, or project coordination within industrial, energy, fabrication, manufacturing, EPC, or construction environments.
- Experience developing and maintaining schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Understanding of engineering and fabrication project execution processes.
- Experience with project reporting, forecasting, progress measurement, or cost tracking is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Additional Information
- This position is based in Nisku, Alberta.
